Furnishing Cedar Hall meant solving for two things at once: spaces warm enough that students would want to live there and flexible enough to adapt as Whatcom Community College grows. Working with Ankrom Moisan Architects, we specified beds convertible to bunk configurations without sacrificing the comfort of the current layout, with fabrics and finishes selected to hold up in a university environment. The 275-bed building includes suite options with full kitchens, group study and media spaces on every floor, and a community room anchoring the ground level. A residence hall designed to bring students to campus and give them a reason to stay.
